  • Cannelloni pasta – Pasta stuffed with ground meat.
  • Tomato pulp – Adds color and flavor to the meat.
  • Salt, pepper and nutmeg – T season the meat.
  • Olive oil, chopped onion and chopped garlic – To sauté and flavor.
  • Whipping cream and béchamel sauce – To combine and make a creamy sauce.
  • Cheese – Grated Parmesan cheese.

HOW TO MAKE BAKED CANNELLONI

Stir and sauté over low heat until the onion start to turn golden, stirring occasionally.

Step 3: Turn off the heat and let the meat cool for about 10 minutes.

Step 5: Preheat the oven to 180ºC (350ºF).

Bake for about 45 minutes or until golden brown.

RECIPE TIPS

1. You can make the meat sauce with fresh tomatoes instead of tomato pulp. The meat will be a little healthier, but it will lose creaminess and color.

2. If you make the recipe with fresh tomatoes (about 3 medium ripe tomatoes), remove the skin from the tomatoes and cut into small pieces (cook the tomatoes with the olive oil, chopped onion and chopped garlic until they start to break down slightly).

3. We usually make this recipe with parmesan, cheddar or mozzarella cheese but you can try making it with another type of cheese. It all depends on your personal taste.

4. If the cannelloni starts to brown too much, reduce the oven temperature or cover with aluminum foil.

5. If you have leftovers, store in the refrigerator in an airtight container (to prevent the growth of microorganisms).

    • 250 grams (8 3/4 ounces) ground beef
    • 250 grams (8 3/4 ounces) ground pork
    • 200 grams (7 ounces) cannelloni pasta tubes
    • 200 ml (about 1 cup) tomato pulp
    • 1 medium onion
    • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
    • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
    • 3 cloves of garlic
    • 50 ml (1/4 cup) olive oil
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 200 ml (1/2 pint (236 ml)) whipping cream
    • 500 ml (1 3/4 cups) Béchamel sauce
    • 100 grams (3 1/2 ounces) grated parmesan cheese

    Directions

    1. In a large saucepan, add the chopped onion, chopped garlic and the olive oil. Stir and sauté over low heat until the onion start to turn golden, stirring occasionally.
